Rise Above Challenge: Day 19

Trauma into Knowledge


It’s time to journal and reflect on a challenging past experience. Spend some time today writing about one of the more challenging or traumatic moments of your life, and how you grew from it.

Ask yourself these questions:

-What was one of the most challenging experiences in my past?

-What did I learn from this experience?

-How did I grow from it?

An example can be when you went through a rough breakup, but later realized what is actually important to you in a partnership. Or maybe you lost a loved one or a friend, and it taught you to cherish the moments you spend with loved ones.

 

Your struggle can become your greatest strength or piece of wisdom in life. You alchemize it by first acknowledging how difficult it was, but also how much it forced you to grow. As you consciously do this the experience becomes knowledge, which then becomes wisdom that you have forever. If you are currently going through a very difficult moment, you can start the process of turning your pain into knowledge by asking yourself “what lessons can I learn from this?” 

 

Sometimes the fear based feelings that continually rise up are from emotions from traumatic experiences that have not been fully attended to. This exercise can release those repressed feelings because it gives you an opportunity to integrate them. PLEASE NOTE this exercise is not a replacement for a trained professional.
