Rise Above Challenge: Day 24
Today’s challenge is to take a problem you are facing and use the mindfulness exercise of viewing it from somebody else’s perspective.
You can do this as a journaling exercise or a meditation, but the key thing is to have some quiet time so you can really reflect and listen to the answers that come up.
When you are ready, get quiet and visualize yourself in somebody else’s shoes, it can be a role model of yours or someone who is a master at solving the problem you are facing.
For example, if you wanted to be more compassionate you can use Gandhi as your role model. Now ask yourself these type of questions:
-How would Gandhi act in this situation?
-What would Gandhi do? (or how would he take action?)
-What other insights or ideas would Gandhi have about this problem?
Now make time for silence and see what answers come up.
Often all we need to do is take a moment to get relax and quiet our mental chatter so we can expand our thinking to come up with new solutions, and this meditation or journaling exercise is a powerful tool to do just that.
Bonus Points: Create a visualization of your new “board members” where you call in multiple people into the boardroom of your mind. Just like your mind gym, get creative with what your boardroom looks like. Try to visualize every detail, and watch each person you call in and see every detail of the clothes they are wearing, how they walk, how they greet you, and how they sit down and greet everyone else in the boardroom. Now after you visualize everyone sitting down, share your problems with them and visualize each person answering at a time, and see what answers come up!
