Rise Above Challenge: Day 26
Today your focus is on getting a restful night's sleep. This means no electronics (at least) one hour before bed!
Sleep is a major factor when it comes to our body restoring and repairing itself. If you are experiencing feelings of stress or negative based feelings, then it is even more important to get a restful six to eight hours of sleep each night. (because if you are getting less than that you are only adding on more stress to your body!)
Our bodies did not evolve to use screens right before bed, and they give off blue light that actually gives signals to our body that the sun is out and it is not time yet for sleep. So tonight spend some time off your phone, tablet, computer or TV at least an hour before bedtime.
Use this time to journal, read, retry one of the challenges, draw, light stretching, or anything else you are called to do that helps you unwind and relax. Meditating before bed is also a great way to get your body prepared for a restful night's slumber and has been shown to help you wake up less throughout the night.
