Rise Above Challenge: Day 3

Which Wolf are you feeding?

There is an old fable about a Navajo woman who told her grandson the tale of two wolves. It starts with the grandmother sitting her grandson down and telling him a tale of the black and white wolf inside of us...(scroll down to listen to the fable)

The black wolf sees all the negativity in the world, everything as a glass half empty, and thrives off of feelings and thoughts of fear. The white wolf sees all the positivity, courageously seeing the world as glass half full, and wants you to become the best version of yourself.

These wolves live inside of us, and as you go about your day you can ask yourself “which wolf am I feeding right now?”

This exercise is not only great to become more aware of your thoughts and how they are serving you, but also allows you to ask yourself what you can do to change it. If you catch yourself feeding the black wolf, ask “how can I feed the white wolf in this moment?” And see what answer comes up.

Pro Tip: You can also write down “which wolf am I feeding right now?” on a piece of paper and carry it with you or put an alarm on your phone that pops up saying “which wolf?” This is a great way to set random reminders so feeding the white wolf becomes a habit by the end of the challenge.
